  6.      Internationalization, or I18N for short, continues to be implemented 
  7.      under IRIX.  Internationlized applications will increasingly become
  8.      necessary.  Although the following documents are not the completed,
  9.      finished versions, they were included here in the interests of 
  10.      providing new information in as timely a fashion as possible and
  11.      still meeting deadlines of releasing new toolbox versions.

  16.                       DISCLAIMER:  This copy of what will eventually be 
  17.                                    the Internationalization chapter of
  18.                                    the IRIX Systems Programming Guide is
  19.                                    a DRAFT and may be incomplete or
  20.                                    inaccurate in some respects.

  22.               This chapter explains basic concepts of software 
  23.                       internationalization and interfaces under IRIX.  
  24.                       After reading this chapter, the programmer
  25.               should be able to write internationalized 
  26.               applications and should understand issues relevant 
  27.               to the software internationalization and 
  28.               localization processes.  A simple recipe for 
  29.               internationalizing an application without all the
  30.               detailed explanations is contained in the "IRIS 
  31.               Internationalization Nutshell."

  33.     Nutshell.ps:  This guide is an attempt to supply a high-level 
  34.               description of the issues involved in 
  35.               internationalizing software.  Readers needing 
  36.               details of coordinating interfaces will find them 
  37.                       in the IRIX Internationalization Primer (the chapter
  38.                       listed above).
